Your Feedback Please

Posted on 01. Apr, 2009 by Michael Scott in Notes & Reflections, Personal Notes

Before I started this blog, I had secretly hoped that my wife and kids would get involved and write a few posts from time to time. Acooba, as many of you know, has come on board, however my kids are reluctant to write on a blog called “Love to Spare.” Love apparently isn’t a cool theme.

So, in order to encourage my kids to get involved, I’m entertaining changing the name of the blog. I think as a father, I need to be willing to make sacrifices for family. Below are the names that my kids want me to consider. I thought I would test the waters first by getting your feedback.

Possible new names for this blog:

  1. Scott Family Blog
  2. Quantum Family
  3. All in the Blog
  4. Village Central

So, which one do you prefer? Be honest.

Thanks,
- Michael

    Of the choices you’ve given me, I’m gonna have to go with Quantum Family… the word Quantum has a coolness factor, and you guys are wonderful role models for loving families.

    But I still like Love To Spare the best (and it doesn’t hurt that the word “love” is highly SEO-friendly.) I’m sure I am just attached to the current name because I’ve gotten used to it. As long as you guys are still running the place, you can call it whatever you want, ’cause I’m coming back.

    Hi Michael,

    I’m new to your blog, I found it through Nadia’s site. I agree with Lisis, I think Love to Spare is the perfect name. All in the Blog is great too, though.

    I like this place, I’m glad I found it.

    Hi David. Welcome!

    Okay, okay, this has gone far enough.

    I’m really not planning on changing the name of this blog. It was an April Fool’s joke. I like Love to Spare - so do my kids.

    I was hoping to get a stronger objection from some of you (especially you, Lisis), but it looks like the joke’s on me, eh? I’m telling you, after some of the feedback here, I even went ahead and registered “All in the Blog”. How ’bout that?

    Oh, and “Quantum Family”: I just threw that in there to try and irk Ian over at Quantum Learning. (shhh… maybe it’s not too late)

    Phew! I thought you were serious. I didn’t really like any of the other names. I was going to suggest “Family of Love”. :)

    Hi Roger,

    Thanks. You know, my son did warn me this morning that the joke could backfire. He said if no one knows I’m kidding and they actually like the suggestions, I might end up having to change the name.

    Looks like I’m pretty safe though. :-)

    Hi Candi!

    It IS tax time, but YOU’RE the accountant! The way I see it, you should be praying for me. ;-) But how ’bout we both pray for each other?

    Yeah, seems like everyone got fooled by this post today, but you’re the only one who said it was a good joke. Bless you.

    Hope to see you around more.

    This is a joke, right?

    Ah … just read the comments. And it is!

    I’m so relieved! It was such a crazy idea to change the name just because of the kids! I mean, all respect and love to them, but one can go only so far in trying to please them. Some things are sacred!

    Though come to think of it .. ‘Quantum Family’ has a great ring to it. Quantum? Quantum? Sounds very familiar! Now where did I hear that before …..?

  25. Love the joke!

    Especially since it wasn’t played on me, which is usually the case in my world…and I never see it coming…sigh…

    I have to say, however, I do like the “All in a Blog” name. Good thing you registered it…now, what are you going to do with it? Whatever you choose, I’m sure it’ll be great - just as ‘Love to Spare’ is. :)

    This is a perfect example of people being mirrors…you accused me of having an April Fool’s joke post because you were doing one!!!! :)

    Just playing with you Michael…I am happy to know that the name isn’t changing! :)

    @Ian
    Yeah, I’m told that using the kids as my reason for changing the name kind of ruined the joke. No one was willing to say that those were bad suggestions for fear of hurting the kids feelings. But just as I expected, it didn’t stop you from saying how you really felt. ;-)

    @Vincent
    LOL. Hope you’ll still be laughing after you discover that I tagged you.

    @Uzma
    Thanks for the list. Wow, I totally missed that. I’m gonna have to go over there and tease Albert about that one.

    @Laurie
    Isn’t it weird how sometimes you come up with the best ideas when you’re just kidding around?

    @Nadia
    Hmmm…I don’t know, Nadia. I’ll have to reflect on that one for awhile. ;-)
